Retail/Consignment Assistant Manager

As a Retail/Consignment Assistant Manager, you report directly to the Store Manager, and oversee store associates when manager is not on-site. You work directly with our customers by providing friendly, knowledgeable customer service and sales in our retail store. You will be the face of Kids on 45th, and interact with all walks of life, including children of all ages, on a daily basis. You ensure daily tasks are completed to maintain a pleasant and inviting atmosphere for customers. You will work closely with your management and buying teams to identify and track sales trends, drive sales & productivity goals, provide genuine quality service experiences, and maintain overall efficient and productive store operations.

Responsibilities

  • Learn, understand, and help implement company policies and procedures while maintaining brand culture and philosophy
  • Take ownership over all customer interactions and store operations day-to-day and ensure tasks are executed with precision and urgency
  • Demonstrate exemplary customer service and inspire associates to do the same
  • Perform all point of sale tasks, including cash handling and customer purchasing
  • Accurately perform all opening and closing procedures in the store and POS system
  • Oversee store upkeep to maintain a clean and organized shopping environment where children can play safely
  • Maintain a well-stocked sales floor, and assist with hanging & tagging clothing
  • Assist Store Manager in developing new sales, training, and operations strategies
  • Participate in future hiring, training, and motivation of store team
  • Assist Store Manager with interior merchandise and window displays, as needed
  • Learn the company used merchandise buying and processing guidelines and assist buyers with training and daily tasks, as needed
  • Learn and stay up-to-date with current children’s clothing and toy trends and pricing
  • Participate in new merchandise processing and merchandising, as needed
  • Maintain constant communication with Store Manager, and immediately report urgent issues and trends
  • Maintain awareness of merchandise and supply inventory, and report low stock items to manager promptly
  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned from time to time
     

Qualifications

  • Prior retail management or similar customer service experience required, though there will be extensive on the job training provided. Consignment retail experience a plus.
  • Open/flexible schedule; must be available to work morning/evening shifts, and at least one weekend day per week
  • Comfortable working with and around children
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service
  • Proven ability to lead by example to motivate and inspire a team
  • Dedication and drive to understand and implement new policies, procedures, and sales goals
  • Proficient with problem-solving and thinking on your feet to resolve difficult customer or employee issues
  • Possess sound judgment and decision-making skills in high pressure situations
  • Ability to establish positive relationships and build rapport with customers and team members alike
  • Able to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency with multi-tasking, prioritizing, and managing time effectively
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented
  • Motivated, energetic self starter, with ability to work well as a team or individually with minimal supervision
  • Tech-savvy and proficient with Apple and Windows products
  • Able to lift, bend, reach, and stand on feet for extended period of time
