Retail/Consignment Operations Associate

As a Retail/Consignment Operations Associate, you report directly to the store management team. You also work directly with our buyers, warehouse team, and occasionally our retail store customers. You’re a people person, comfortable interacting with all walks of life, including children of all ages, on a daily basis. You will assist daily with sorting, organizing, folding, hanging, and tagging consigned clothing and other merchandise. You deliver merchandise to a donation center and our south Seattle warehouse. You actively contribute to overall team productivity goals, and provide friendly customer service when you are in the store, all while maintaining overall efficient and effective store operations.

Responsibilities

  • Sort, fold, organize and bin clothing according to style, gender, size, and other criteria
  • Spot minor defects (stains, holes, loose threads, missing buttons) in merchandise, and make reliable judgement calls on sellable vs unsellable goods
  • Follow a set of detailed guidelines to sort and organize merchandise
  • Achieve daily goals in sorting metrics
  • Accurately track and record number or weight of items sorted
  • Maintain a clean and organized work space at all times
  • Contribute to overall process efficiency and make suggestions to improve processes
  • Load & haul bags or bins of clothing into a delivery vehicle
  • Drive & unload merchandise at donation sites, or our south Seattle warehouse
  • Assist store buyers with sorting, processing, tagging and hanging clothing, as needed
  • Be willing to cross-train on all store point of sale tasks, including cash handling and customer purchasing, as needed
  • Take ownership to ensure all tasks are executed with precision and urgency
  • Provide friendly, upbeat customer service when required
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times, as you will be representing the company everywhere you make deliveries
  • Maintain constant communication with management team, and immediately report urgent issues and trends
  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned from time to time
     

Qualifications

  • Must have a current valid Washington driver’s license & clean driving record
  • Prior retail or similar customer service experience required, though there will be extensive on the job training provided. Consignment retail experience a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of clothing brands and value a plus (will train somewhat on this)
  • Prior warehouse production, sorting, or delivery driving also a bonus
  • Open/flexible schedule; must be available to work morning/evening shifts, and at least one weekend day
  • Comfortable working with and around children
  • Friendly and empathetic; able to provide an outstanding customer service experience
  • Possess excellent judgment and decision-making skills in high pressure situations
  • Able to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Flexible and can change tasks regularly as needed
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency with multi-tasking, prioritizing, and managing time effectively
  • Extremely organized, tidy, and detail-oriented
  • Motivated, energetic self starter, with ability to work well as a team or individually with minimal supervision
  • Tech-savvy and proficient with Apple and Windows products
  • Able to lift, bend, reach, climb, and stand on feet for extended period of time
  • Comfortable working with hands for a long period of time
  • Able to regularly lift up to 20-30lbs with ease (bags/bins of clothing)
